Density Lab #1 - Simulation
Introduction: Density is a physical property of matter that is calculated by dividing the mass of an object by its volume. Volume can be computed for a regular object by multiplying length x width x height. Another way to compute volume is by submerging an object into a liquid. You must record the starting volume of the liquid and the final volume after the object has been submerged (if objects float, make sure you hold them under the water). Then subtract the starting volume from the final volume.
Procedure:
Open the internet browser and enter the address:
Once the simulation is open, click the button “Turn Fluid Into Water”
If you lose your block or need to restart, use the “Reset” button at the top of the screen.
When you have completed the lab upload it to schoology under DENSITY LAB.

Click reset before answering the following questions.
1. Use the scale on the bottom to increase the mass. What happens to the block when you increase the mass?
2. Use the scale at the bottom to decrease the mass. What happens to the block when you decrease the mass?
3. Use the scale on the bottom to increase the volume. What happens to the block when you increase the volume?
2. Use the scale at the bottom to decrease the volume. What happens to the block when you decrease the volume?
