An experiment was conducted to determine if experience has an effect on the time it takes for mice to run a maze. Four treatment groups, consisting of mice having been trained on the maze one, two, three and four times were run through the maze and their times recorded. Three mice were originally assigned to each group, but it was discovered that some lab assistants, in an attempt to win a bet, gave one mouse a stimulant and another mouse a sedative. These mice were removed from the analysis. Training runs 1 2 3 4 Times 11,9 7,8,9 6,5,7 5,3 a. Complete the ANOVA table based on this data. (9%) Following question #1 in the previous page. b. Use a significance level of .05 to test whether the mean time to run the maze differs for the training groups. (13%) c. Suppose that experimentwise error rate is 0.05, conduct the Tukey’s multiple comparison procedure for these four different training runs. (16%) d. Is this a balanced or unbalanced design? Why? (5%)
