According to Freedom House's 2021 Freedom in the World Report, democracy has been on the decline for 15 years in a row, with some of the biggest setbacks coming in the world's two largest democracies, the United States and India. Since the report was published, there have been coups in Myanmar, Tunisia and Sudan, countries that were once on the path to promising democracies.
