URGENT WORTH 20 POINTS PLEASE ANSWER FROM THE BOOK MACBETH
K12

1. We learned that Shakespeare used source material when writing his plays. We also know that modern day artists, in turn, use Shakespeare’s works as an influence and inspiration when creating new works. In today’s age of reboots and remakes, do you think that using elements of an existing source (or completely rebooting a classic) makes the artist/creator less creative? Do you think it affects the quality of the new work? Cite specific examples in your response and include examples from Macbeth. You can use literature, music, motion pictures, TV, or any medium you feel fits the prompt.
2. Some people argue that everything in our lives is already chosen for us (Fate) and that we have no choice in anything. Others argue that we actually live by making our own choices (Free Will) and that we determine our own futures. Which side do you agree with and why? Use examples from Macbeth to support your argument.

3. We discussed the classification of Macbeth as one of Shakespeare’s tragedies. The character Macbeth has a tragic flaw and is a tragic hero. Some would argue that he is also a villain. Do you think Macbeth is a hero or a villain? Explain your position using textual evidence to support your ideas.

4. Consider the traditional gender roles of this time (the male would be dominant; the female would be submissive.) Think about the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Explain how they do AND do not follow traditional gender roles. Use textual evidence to support your position.

5. Choose 1 of the themes discussed in our introduction recording (Things are not what they seem./Blind ambition is dangerous./Power corrupts./Superstition affects human behavior.) and explain how Shakespeare illustrates that theme throughout the play. Support with textual evidence. Why do you think your chosen theme is relevant even in today’s world? How can we see it in our everyday lives?
