In a fourth-grade physical education class, students are working in rotating groups of three (pitcher, catcher, batter) practicing slow-pitch softball techniques. The teacher provides the following skill clues that have to do with the pitching stance.
Use a forward stride motion.
Square your shoulders to the target.
Keep your center of gravity with the base of support.
At least one foot must be in contact with the pitching rubber.
a.Grip the ball across the seams and place the ball firmly in the palm of your hand for better pitching control when releasing the ball.
b.Your weight should be on the front foot at the beginning of the throw.
c.Make sure the ball has a 10-foot to 15-foot arc as it approaches the target (home plate).
d.Release the ball when your throwing hand is about at shoulder level.
