The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level Formula gives the grade reading level K of a passage of text. For this formula, W is the number of words in the passage, S is the number of sentences, and L is the number of syllables. The formula is

K=0.39W/S+11.8L/W−15.59


Note that many word-processing programs calculate the reading level of a document using this formula. In this exercise, we consider passages with 20 sentences and 600 syllables.
