trusted names in railway travel. Amtrak is
based in Washington, D.C., and its trains carry
passengers from coast to coast. In recent
years, the company has taken noticeable steps
to become "greener." Amtrak has reduced its
carbon footprint by reducing fuel consumption
and applying new forms of technology to save
energy. The company has also created lighter
train cars and switched to diesel fuel to
consume less energy. In addition, Amtrak is
committed to improving trains so they produce
less airborne pollutants. The industry has taken notice of Amtrak’s mission, and other companies have begun to take similar steps. These signs indicate that railway companies in the U.S are finally beginning to produce more eco-friendly trains like their counterparts around the world.
