I’ve read that the American Revolution started at Lexington and Concord with what Ralph Waldo Emerson called, "the shot heard around the world".
Battles of Lexington and Concord
The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, kicked off the American Revolutionary War (1775-83)
.
The Concord Hymn - Ralph Waldo Emerson(1837)
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set to-day a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee
.
I also read the American Revolution started after the Stamp Act from Britain as the American colonists resisted taxation without representation.
The Stamp Act
The issues raised by the Stamp Act festered for 10 years before giving rise to the Revolutionary War and, ultimately, American independence.
Which of these is true? If none, how was the American Revolution started?
