Montag has many traits but one of his main things I would say about his personality is he is always confused. One of Montag's tools that is related to him being confused a lot is his books. It's been shown when he is doing his job and being a book burner to becoming an independent knowledge seeker. Being a book burner had made him confused because all this time he has had books and not understanded why people burn them. He enjoys reading them and has books which confuse himself when he burns them and follows what everyone else is doing. Him being confused makes him take other books from people when he should be burning them. He shows how he is confused and curious about what the books have that people don't want you to read them. Overall, one thing that Montag would have on him all the time is a book. Even though he is not supposed to, he still does because that's what he thinks is right. Next I'm gonna talk about Montag and how fire can rub off and make him insane.
Montags other trait would be how he can act and be insane alot. Him being insane is shown throughout the book when he has insane thoughts and is always frantically searching for the truth. It's also shown through his near-hysteria as he realizes how shallow society really is. One part in the book when it states “ His thoughts are “insane,” his breathing is “feverish,” his voice is “stumbling,” and then “firm.” That shows more evidence for how I think he is insane. Another tool shown is fire, fire is a good reason why he is insane. Fire is shown when Montag got pleasure out of burning books. One of Montag's favorite things from burning the books was he would put a marshmallow and put it on a stick and roast it. When Montags is done he goes home and goes to bed with a smile on his face. Overall, this shows how montag is insane and the main reason is because of fire. Next I'm gonna talk about society and how that leads to him being curious.
One of Montag's last traits is how he is curious. He is curious because throughout the book it is shown how he is still deciding and trying to figure out everything about books. He doesn't know what to think , and wants to know what they're hiding that they have to burn all the books. Another tool shown for him is society. He shows his curiosity when he tries to find out everything he can about books and the way things used to be in society. He is also curious about the society because he wants to know why everyone follows along and doesn't try to be different. This shows how Montag is curious mostly because of society. Overall, I think Montag is confused, insane, and curious. He shows all those traits throughout the book mostly through books, fire, and society. I think all Montag’s traits are clearly shown all throughout the book.
