Why do the people of Brazil speak Portuguese?

Portugal claimed the land of Brazil by right of discovery.

Natives in that area spoke Portuguese before colonization.

Colonization gave birth to a new language that later on was adopted by Portugal.

The Spanish's second language is Portuguese.
