Tasha works at a consignment store and has received the “employee of the month” award two out of the 12 months she has worked there. Tasha accidentally added her time sheet incorrectly, and submitted it to her employer. Her time sheet said she worked 28 hours during the last pay period even though she only actually worked 21 hours. Tasha did not realize this until she received her paycheck. It included payment for all 28 hours. That same week, a co-worker of hers, Jimmy, was fired for incorrectly reporting the number of hours worked on his time sheet. If Tasha tells the employer she submitted more hours than she worked the same week her co-worker did, Tasha thinks the employer may think she lied about the hours and is trying to cover up her lie by calling it a “mistake”. Tasha knows that if she does not say anything, the employer has little chance of knowing the hours are incorrect. Plus, she could really use the extra money. What should Tasha do?
