In this lesson you explored some different types of career options available in the fields of air, rail, water, and road transportation. Some of these positons allow individuals to work a traditional 40-hour work week, while other jobs require very unusual schedules. It’s important to think about the type of schedule you would like to work when you begin a new career. Would you prefer a 9-5 job, or contract work for 6 months at a time? Or maybe you would enjoy working at night. For instance, if it is important for you to be home for dinner every night, a career as a cruise ship pilot may not be the best option for you. Similarly, if you desire a job that allows you to travel, a job as a yardmaster may give you the opportunities to see new places regularly. Assignment Directions Step 1: Conduct further research into one of the career options that was discussed in this lesson. Investigate some of the typical activities that are carried out by someone who holds this position. Step 2: Use your research to create a weeklong schedule for a person with your chosen positon. The schedule should be a detailed list of the daily tasks that the individual will be expected to carry out. It should be presented in the form of a day planner in which the individual entries are listed according to time of day. For instance, a daily entry for an office worker may look like the following: 9 a.m.: arrive at office 9-10 a.m.: answer emails 10-11 a.m.: work on presentation 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: give presentation 12:30-2 p.m.: lunch with clients 2-3 p.m.: meeting with coworkers 3-5 p.m.: paperwork in office 5 p.m.: leave office Step 3: Create a five-day schedule outlining the possible tasks and responsibilities of this professional for the week. Step 4: Write a 500-word essay discussing the advantages and disadvantages of working according to this type of schedule. You will conclude your essay with a description of whether or not this schedule is a good fit for the lifestyle you would like to have. Make sure to keep track of the articles y
