Storytellers and teachers both act as speakers for their audience members or students. Both the storyteller and teacher speak to their audience to convey the message to the audience. By speaking to them and talking with them they are able to teach their students or audience members about the topic at hand. 

The answer is they both act as interpreters. This is need for the interpreter for the audience or the members to understand the story. Interpreters is a individual who interprets, specifically one who translates speech orally. And also they sometimes translate or interpret the story.
