Terry kicks a football off the ground with an initial upward velocity of 36 m/s. which equation can be used to find the amount of time, t, it will take the football to hit the ground?

A. -4.9t^2+36=0

B. -4.9t^2+36t=0

C. -16t^2+36=0

D. -16t^2+36t=0

this would help sm please answer ❤️❤️

Respuesta :

Initial upward velocity= 36 m/s
acceleration due to gravity= 9.8 m/s²

Concept:
As, the acceleration is constant ( acceleration is only due to gravity) so we use the equations of constant acceleration for this question:
As, given
                            y=y° + v*t +1/2(a)(t²)
 As, the initial and final height of the football is ground so change in distance covered in the vertical direction is zero.
                           y-y°=v*t + 1/2(a)(t²)
                            0= 36 t +   1/2(-9.8)(t²)
-ve sign because force is downward.
                            0= 36 t - 4.9 t²

Option B is correct
