5, 3.2, 4.1, 3.8, 3.1, 3.2, 5.8, 3.8, 4.2, 4.3

Jack made the following box plot to represent the life spans:

box plot shows minimum at 3.1, first quartile at 3.2, median at 3.95, third quartile at 4.8 and maximum at 5.8

Which of the following did Jack show incorrectly on his box plot?

A. Median
B. Minimum
C. First quartile
D.Third quartile

Respuesta :

Order the given list from minimum to maximum
3.1, 3.2, 3.2, 3.8, 3.8, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5, 5.8

From this you can see that
minimum= 3.1
maximum= 5.8
median is between 3.8 and 4.1 which is (3.8+4.1)/2= 3.95
First quartlie is the median of first five numbers which is 3.2
Third quartlie is the median of last five numbers which is 4.3
So,
jack shows the Third quartlie incorrectly.
