A gallon of paint covers 400 square feet. How many square feet will 2 3/8 gallons of paint cover? Show work

950 square feet. 2 gallons is 800, 1/8 of a gallon is 50, 50x3 =150. 800+150=950 gallons

It makes sense since 2 3/8 is a little more than double of 1

And 950 is a little more than double of 400

2 3/8  = 19/8

400x(19/8)=

400x19 = 7,600

7,600/8=950

  OR

Since it is double plus 3/8

it will be 800 +3/8of 400

3/8 of 400 =150

800+150 = 950
