Ethology lays emphasis on the influence of biology on behavior and the link of this to evolution, and is characterized by critical or sensitive periods. This means that there are periods when behavior is strongly influenced by certain types of stimuli or the environment.
Behavioral theory of human development studies observable behavior. It describes the laws and processes in order to learn behavior. The theory shows that behaviors are learned through interaction with the environment. The latter is actually one of the basic assumptions of behaviorism. Another important assumption is that while behavior is learned, only the outside effects of nature are taken into account and internal events like thinking and emotions are ruled out.
