History is a discipline that examines record of events by critically examining source materials. It is the analysis of the causes of the events. This will help humankind to identify what decisions and practices have worked or not worked in the past, including those that caused tragedy. This is in hope that the bad things that happened will not happen again the present or future.
History can be fully understood by studying the events that occurred before the present--the past. It can be analyzed and evaluated through historiography.
Historiography is the study of the origin and methods used to study and write history.
