Metabolism is collectively the chemical reactions that occur within the a cell. It has two sub-process which includes anabolism and catabolism.
Anabolism are those reactions that uses energy and synthesize building blocks and macromolecules while catabolism is the cellular reactions that break larger molecules into smaller ones and releases energy.
Examples of catabolic processes includes glycolysis, citric acid cycle, breakdown of muscle protein and breakdown of fats.
