Stacy’s experience illustrates a major response to equity theory. The equity theory was developed in the 1960's by Stacy Adams. This theory talks about how those in the workplace strive to make sure they have equal input into a job and that the output and recognition from the job directly relates to the work they put in. In this situation, Stacy doesn't want to put in more work and receive the same amount of recognition as her counterparts who did less work.
