Ineffective Argument

I love animals so much. I know that animals love humans, so why do people want to ban the ownership of pets? I don’t get it.

The first reason I should be able to own a pet is that I love animals. My family loves having a pet. Our dog is like a part of the family. My parents take care of her and take her to the doctor just like they do with me. My mom says, “I don’t know what I would do without little Josie!”

I think that people should own pets because they are helpful. My friend just told me about a neighbor whose pet parrot woke her up in the middle of the night when there was a fire. It saved her life. What a lucky person to own a parrot.

Honestly, what would we do without our pets?

The question asks if people should own pets. In this argument the student put a lot of their opinion and what they think of pets. Putting in facts about pets would have been beneficial and would have backed up their argument better. Also, the person used family to back up their argument. They could have done an interview of a person who has pets and benefits from them. (Like an older person or disabled person who uses support dogs, etc.) Another thing the person did wrong, was use a the question "what would we do without pets?" as a conclusion. They could have answered their own question or better say what pets could do to make things better ending the argument on a positive note.
