5y - 2 = x -----(1)

x + y = 10 -----(2)

substitute (1) into (2):
5y -2 + y = 10
6y - 2 = 10
6y = 12
y = 2
x = 5×2 - 2
x = 8

so brad have been in the team for 8 years
