A rooms floor is y meters long. It’s width is 5 meters shorter. If the perimeter of the floor is (4y + 1) meters, can you solve for its length?

Respuesta :

we know that

shape of room is always rectangle

length = y meters

width =y-5 meters

now, we can find perimeter

perimeter=2*length +2*width

we can plug values

[tex]P=2y+2(y-5)[/tex]

now, we are given

this perimeter is 4y+1

so, we can set it equal to 4y+1

[tex]4y+1=2y+2(y-5)[/tex]

now, we can solve for y

[tex]4y+1=4y-10[/tex]

we can subtract both sides by 4y

[tex]4y+1-4y=4y-4y-10[/tex]

[tex]1=-10[/tex]

we know that 1 can not be equal to 10

so,  we can not solve for y by this information

so, this is impossible o find length with this information...........Answer
