" water wheel "

In 1779 Samuel Crompton invented the mechanical loom. This artisan and farmer combined the best of Hargreaves and Arkwright machines hence the name "Mule Jenny". It produced a thinner and more resistant thread and was capable of using more than 300 spindles at the same time.

The mechanized loom was perfected by another British inventor, Edmund Cartwright, who patented the first mechanical loom in 1786.

A second improved version of it was built in 1787 in Doncaster. Two years later, a steam engine was installed to mechanically operate his loom, which inaugurated an era of greater productivity and large-scale textile production.
