The industrial revolution changed the world as we know it today. It was the first time people were able to produce things in mass by the introduction big of machines. Before everything had to require a lot of skill to be made by hand which would take a lot longer. This is why everything was so expensive and much more limited. 

Everything became more widespread and accessible and everyday people had access to products that they never could have had before. This is simply because everything became cheeper to make and distribute due to the machines. 

The industrial revolution made many people urbanise and move to the cities as before they lived and worked on farms. This changed the structure of society as before the majority of people lived out in the country and worked on farms but now the cities were becoming big and crowded as people moved there to work in the new factories. The conditions were dirty and horrible for the workers and this is where we get images from stories like Oliver Twist. 

This opened up many jobs for people to come work and factories. It was a massive shift as this new age of manufacturing became the main focus of society, as for hundreds of years before it had agriculture. It also paved the way for machines playing an important part in everyday life. This allowed technology and society to develop quicker than it ever had before which was why it was so revolutionary
