All these inventors created things that changed our lives and allowed us to improve them or invent other technologies that are part of our lives.
- George Stephenson invented the steam locomotive in 1821. It was attached to wagons that took passengers from one city to another in England.
- Robert Fulton invented the steamboat. It was constructed in New York and sailed in the Hudson River. He also built submarines and torpedos.
- Cyrus McCormick created the first working reaper. Previously, McCormick's father tried to invent one. His son took the original idea and created the horse-drawn reaper.
- John Deere invented the riding plow in 1837. He was a blacksmith. Thanks to his invention, the process of loosening the soil for planting became quicker. He created his own company, which still exists.
- Samuel F.B Morse was the creator of the morse code. He also invented the single-wire telegraph, which was more efficient than other telegraph methods and could transmit messages across long distances.
- Ezra Cornell was a businessman who associated with Samuel F.B Morse to build the telegraph line in many regions of the U.S. He firstly installed the telegraph's wires on the ground. Later they found out that it was better to put them on poles conducting electricity efficiently.
- Eli Whitney was an American engineer who created the cotton gin. The machine separates the cotton from the seeds in a fast and efficient way. It had an impact on slavery and the economy.
- Elias Howe perfectionated previous sewing machine models and made the first efficient one. He was able to patent it. His machine used a stitch called lockstitch, which is still used in the present.
To sum up, all these inventors created or perfectionated machines that make revolutionary changes, some of them are still used.
