The formula of a midpoint:

[tex]M\left(\dfrac{x_1+x_2}{2},\ \dfrac{y_1+y_2}{2}\right)[/tex]

We have (3, 8) and (1, -4). Substitute:

[tex]\dfrac{3+1}{2}=\dfrac{4}{2}=2\\\\\dfrac{8+(-4)}{2}=\dfrac{4}{2}=2[/tex]

Answer: (2, 2).

Hey there!!

Midpoint formula:

...[ (x₁+x₂)/2 , (y₁+y₂)/2 ]

Given:

... (3,8)(1,-4)

Inserting this into the midpoint formula:

... [(3+1)/2 , (8-4)/2]

... (4/2 , 4/2 )

... (2,2) is the midpoint

Hope my answer helps!
