In the secret life of Walter Mitty, James Thurber decribes a man who dreams of being an action hero.

Mitty pictures himself as a brave man who rescues people from dangers. The first character  he imagines is the captain of a hydro plane in the middle of a fierce hurricane. Here the text states “This old man´ll get us through”. This shows he is the only one brave enough to save the rest.
