The present continuous (or present progressive) is a verb tense that is mainly used to show that an ongoing action is happening at the moment of speaking.

It is formed using: person + verb to be (am/is/are) +verb + - ing form

Example: I am working at this moment.

In addition, the present continuous is also used to indicate that an action will or will not happen in the near future.

Example: I am going to my mother´s party tonight.

Finally, It can be used to express that an action is repeated and it causes irritation on the part of the speaker. Some words like “always” or “constantly indicates that the action is repeated and it causes irritation.

Example: Tim is constantly speaking in class.
