Scientists continuously find fossilized bodies of dinosaur bones that all appear to have died the same way. It is because of these discoveries that we know that dinosaurs and other pre-historic species existed on Earth 66 million years ago.
The evidence that points to the fact that there was a big extinction about 66 million years ago lies in the fossil records themselves.
Records and evidence show that for an estimated two hundred and thirty million years, Earth was home to lots of dinosaurs. Fragments of their skeletons such as teeth, bones, etc have been found on fossils which corroborates this position.
The interesting thing however is that when subjected to radiocarbon dating none of the dinosaur remains were in age, less than 66 million years. This can only mean that there was a massive catastrophe that wiped out life as it existed then.
There is also some evidence that suggests that a huge asteroid impacted the earth at that time causing the extinctions.
