In 1775, the Great Britain parliament introduced the quartering act, which said the colonists would have to pay for the lodging of British soldiers that resided in America. The colonists were not happy with this development because since the French and Indian were over, the colonists saw no need for soldiers continued stay in the colonies.
Britain also taxed the colonist by passing the stamp acts. The stamp acts was passed in 1765 and it was used to pay for the debt incurred during the war. The colonists were taxed by the Great Britain to pay for the war debts.
In 1767, the parliament also passed the Townsend law, and this law required and compelled the colonists to pay taxes on imported goods. Although many colonists were not happy with these taxes because the laws were passed by the England parliament and not their own colonial government.
After the French and Indian war, the Great Britain attempted to extent their control into western territories. A proclamation was issued by the king and the proclamation restricted the colonist from going beyond the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists that settled on the mountain where ordered to move to the eastern part of the mountain. Though by 1770, the Great Britain had a quite number of colonies under their control and the colonists that lived in those colonies did saw themselves as citizens of Great Britain and subjects of King George III.
