Amanda brought 6 t-shirts that cost the same amount each and 2 jackets that cost $55 for each jacket. The total cost of items Amanda brought was $350 before the tax was added. What is the cost of each t-shirt?

so lets take the cost of 1 T-shirt to be x

Since Amanda bought 6 t-shirts we can say the cost of 6 T- shirts is 6x

So the total cost of items = 55*2 +6x

[tex](55 \times 2) \: + 6x = 350 \\ 110 + 6x = 350 \\ 6x = 350 - 110 = 240 \\ 6x = 240 \\ x = \frac{240}{6} \\ x =40[/tex]

Ans: Each T-shirt is $40
