The result of mutation during meiosis is that the offspring of the organism will have a mutation.
Meiosis is a proces by which cells divide in order to produce four other cells, each with half the full complement of DNA. Meiosis aims to produce gametes (eggs and sperm cells). Errors may take place during meiosis giving way to gametes with an extra or missing chromosome.
During the process of meiosis, chromosomes are replicated once in S phase (just like mitosis) into sister chromatids, but the cell divides twice.
