The smoothie or mode lipid molecules. Where do many of these lipid molecules end up? It also is involved in detoxification of poisons in the body. Cells in what organ in your body probably contain a lot of smooth ER?

(i’m having a bit of trouble with homework, can anyone help out please?)

Respuesta :

Liver

The liver has many function in addition to detoxification, including manufacturing enzymes, storage of glycogen and vitamins. and metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates;

Explanation:

Lipid metabolism begins in the smooth ER especially in the hepatocyte cells of the liver that have a lot of this organelle.

In the smooth ER, the fatty acids chains are converted to acyl-CoA by acyl-CoA synthetase. The acyl-CoA then enters the mitochondria and converted to Acetyl-CoA of the Critic cycle through beta-oxidation

Additionally, the glycerol of the triglycerides is converted to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate that is an intermediate of the glycolysis metabolic cycle.

The lipids are also assembled in the smooth ER whereby they are used to create lipoproteins so the hydrophobic lipids can be transported through blood to other tissues

Excess carbohydrates and proteins are also stripped to their skeleton and this is used to convert them to fatty acids
