Similarities:
- The Inca and Aztec empires were very similar. They were based on managing resources and goods, and the economy was centered around their agriculture.
- Both the Incas and Aztecs believed in and worshiped the sun god. They both practiced and participated in human sacrifices. And had built large temples to do the sacrifices in and had built special temples to worship their god.
Differences:
- Aztecs had more craftspeople (artisans, merchants) and therefore more diverse social classes, leading to specialization. Aztecs had individual advancement based on military ability. Incas had little social mobility because the Incas had a totalitarian government, in order to keep control over people, the leader had to limit their mobility.
- The Inca government was very strict since they had such an established rule, it made it much harder and tool a lot longer for Pizzaro to defeat them. Aztecs have more control over the conquered people, many of them were eager to fight for Cortez against the Aztecs which helped lead to their decline.
The difference between the political developments of the Aztec and the Inca is that the Aztecs were ruled by an Emperor that helped to lead them to war while the Inca were led by the Sapa Inca.
The Aztecs did not have a structured type of leadership compared to what was obtainable by the Incas who had a bureaucracy.
Both of these had similar social structure. They both had emperors that got into the realms of authority through inheritance.
Those that were the commoners in the Aztec empire were used to work on lands and other infrastructural services which they rendered to the upper class.
In the Inca empires it was also similar. The commoners were used to work on lands that they received from the upper class. They paid royalties to these people.
Women in both societies could not be owners of properties. Their jobs were limited to the family. They had to take motherhood roles and caring for the family.
