Persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire happened intermittently over a length of over two centuries between the Great Fire of Rome in sixty four AD underneath Nero and the Edict of Milan in 313 AD, in which the Roman Emperors Constantine the Great and Licinius legalised the Christian religion.
The persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire was once carried out via the kingdom and also by means of neighborhood authorities on a sporadic, ad hoc basis, often at the whims of neighborhood communities. Starting in 250 AD, empire-wide persecution took region as an indirect end result of an edict by the emperor Decius. This edict was in force for eighteen months, at some point of which time some Christians were killed whilst others apostatised to get away execution.
