Green revolution took place during 1960s. Its main aim was to increase the production.

Green revolution increased the agricultural output. The energy that was introduced to produce the crops has increased . So the ratio between crop production and energy needed has decreased.

During green revolution Government adopted an approach to import and distribute high yielding varieties of crops such as wheat and rice .

There was an uneven distribution between the small and large farmers. There was lack of information and resources available among small farmers . They were not aware regarding the technology as well.

Various problems were faced during green revolution that is soil erosion, degradation of soil fertility,global warming, erosion of water resources.
