The pressure a gas exerts on another object is caused by

A the chemical composition of the gas

B collisions between gas particles and the object

C collisions between gas particles

D the physical size of the gas particles

Respuesta :

B

Collisions between gas particles and the object is the reason a gas exerts pressure  on the object.

Explanation:

Gas molecules usually have higher kinetic energy than that of liquid and solids. These molecules, therefore, collide with other molecules of the gas and if the gas is held in a container, the gas molecules will also collide with the walls of the container. As the kinetic energy of the gas molecules increases, due to increased energy input in the gas, so does the energy of collisions between the molecules and the molecules with the walls of the container. This is how the pressure of a gas in a container  increases with an increase in temperature.

Even though the gas molecules are tiny, the numerous collisions by the billions of gas molecules of the gas  apply a cumulative pressure.
