Answer:
What I find to fascinate me is that Science is proven by facts. Not feelings or a notion of ideas made up that sound exciting enough to believe. And yet we like science to prove the unkown because, we're scared and curious about it; but then we make up our own unknown. Our own monsters lurking in the forests, the shadows, the waters. We're also set on proving these cryptids true after we make up these wonderful and terrifying creatures. So, Whats so intriguing is I can't figure out whats more important to our culture and to us: Proving scientific facts that will help our fear and wonders for the unkown or Making up these cryptids that help shape and define our culture and wanting to prove these too?
Hope this helps!
