1. You need to find the difference between the price you want to get to ($250) and what she has already spent ($112.49). Finding the difference meaning subtracting. So $250-$112.49 = $137.51. Because if you plus $137.51 + (what she has already spent) $112.49 = $250.
2. $12 (the total highest possible price) - $9.99 (the total lowest possible price (original pizza price)) = $2.01 (the amount you have to spend on toppings)
$2 (round the amount you have to spend on toppings) Ă· by $0.35 (the cost of the toppings) = (roughly) 5.7 and you cannot get 0.7 of a topping so we have to round down to 5. therefore the answer is 5.
3. a) The difference means subtract so you would subtract n-3 and then multiple that answer by -6 which has a total of 18, so we place the equation that needs to be solved first in brackets (n-3) and then place the number we want to multiple by in front of the brackets, -6(n-3) and then the total is what it equals, -6(n-3) = 18.
b) To find what n is equal to need to work backwards.. so the last thing you do is multiple the equation to equal 18 so the equation looks like this. n - 3 x 6 = 18 and then you need KCF (Keep Change Flip, so keep the numbers, change the symbols to be the opposite, flip the question backwards) so using KCF the question becomes 18 Ă· 6 + 3 = n. 18 Ă· 6 = 3, 3 + 3 = 6, therefore n=6
