Colton is draining water from his garden pond. The graph shows the relationship between time in minutes and the gallons of water in the pond.

A graph is shown in the xy-plane. The x-axis is labeled as Time left parenthesis minutes right parenthesis and the y-axis is labeled as Gallons of Water. The values on the x-axis range from 0 to 18 in increments of 2 and the values on the y-axis range from 0 to 90 in increments of 10. A line starts from the point 100 on the y-axis, goes down, and ends at a point 20 on the x-axis.

At which number of minutes will there be more than 45 gallons of water in the pond? Select two answers

Colton is draining water from his garden pond The graph shows the relationship between time in minutes and the gallons of water in the pond A graph is shown in class=

Respuesta :

6 minutes and 8 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 :

The graph shows a straight line which shows the variation between time and gallons of water

The x axis represents the time in minutes

The y axis represents the gallons of water.

So if we take any point on the line , the x co-ordinate gives the time in minutes and the y co-ordinate gives the gallons of water remaining in the pond at that time

Step 2:

We need to find the time at which there will be more than 45 gallons of water in the pond

From the graph we can find that when the y co-ordinate is 45, the corresponding x co-ordinate has a value of 11 . This implies that at 11 minutes there are 45 gallons of water remaining in the pond. Also we can see that before 11 minutes we have more that 45 gallons of water in the pond and after 11 minutes the water decreases from 45 gallons and is always less than that.

So for all time values lesser than 11 minutes we have 45 gallons or more of water in the pond. Hence we can choose any values less than 11.

For example, 6 and 8 minutes .
