Answer:

The Cross-Linkage theory

Explanation:

The theory was referred as glycosylation theory (glucose binds to proteins) of ageing was purposed in 1942 by Johan Bajorksten.

The cross-linkage theory of ageing explains how a person grow old and what physiological changes occurs in his body. According to cross-linkage theory as the name indicates ageing results from inter and interamoleculer covalent linkages between molecules. Specifically, these molecules include glucose and proteins. The glucose binds to protein in the aerobic condition. These interactions between molecules change the biological and chemical properties of cells and consequently produces the whole organ dysfunctions. The most common dysfunctions are

  • Cross links results in loss of elasticity such as in collagen fibers, skin and muscles.
  • Stiffness of blood vessels
  • Reduced movement of joint
  • Delayed wound healing
