A hypertonic solution outside of the cell has more solute as compared to the internal of the cell and the cell is considered as hypotonic as compared to the its outside. Also in such situation, the solvent i.e. water will tend to move from inside of the cell to the outside of the cell until a condition of equilibrium is reached. Because of this movement of solvent, the cell will become flaccid i.e. it will shrink.
