Some people think that criminals should be imprisoned for a long time, while others feel that we can create other type of punishment to help them , what is your opinion ?

I believe that if you do something against the law you need to have a punishment. Now there is no reason that punishment has to be you locked up in a cell for who knows how long. I understand how imprisonmemt is an extreme form of punishment, so the criminal will learn from thier mistake. I believe the other forms of punishment should not be light, there should be other options then jail.
