Active Immunity re-exposes the children to a dead portion of a disease to help them build immunity.
What is immunity?
Our immune system, a network of intricate stages and pathways in the body, protects us against these harmful microbes as well as certain diseases.
It recognizes foreign invaders like bacteria, viruses, and parasites and takes immediate action. Humans possess two types of immunity namely innate and adaptive.
When the body is exposed to a novel disease agent, a cascade of signaling molecules and action from the innate immune system results in activation of the adaptive immune system. Production of large numbers of T cells and B cells specific to the pathogen are promoted.
