The system is not broken it is working the way it is supposed to. Sometimes you need to let the intelligent people take over for a little bit. Would you let a 7 year old child choose their bed time? No, because they would make a ridiculous proposal. You would want the parents to lay down the law and saw no and that’s what the electoral college did
