Alright! So when comparing the geographic features of abyssal zones and coral reefs you wanna make sure your answers are diverse as possible, because I had this question in middle school and they Are two very different species. 1.) what makes coral reefs support very diverse life forms and very large quantities of life is the fact that coral reefs are often called the “rainforests of the sea” about 25% of the oceans fish depend on the coral reefs. The reason on why coral reefs are so diverse is by their color,shape, and the way they help marine life! To elaborate more, all different kinds of fish depend on the healthy coral reefs because fish take shelter, the reproduce, and find food! They also support very large quantities from life, it ties in with diversity! Without the coral reefs in our oceans, many fish would probably die off. Now abyssal zones! How do they support very diverse life forms but very small quantities of life? Okay so the abyssal zone is the deepest layer of the ocean near the sea floor! Very scary and some of the most unique fish and marine life are down there! The abyssal zones doesn’t support large quantities of life because it’s literally the darkest part of the ocean, meaning that it receives no sun light what so ever, mostly any marine animal down there would most likely be blind naturally! Not many common or rare fish go down there, they stay close the the top of the ocean because of sunlight, so it would be almost deadly for a regular of rare fish to go down in the depths of the ocean where it’s pitch black dark! Now the diverse life forms down in the abyssal zone consist of many different kinds of marine animals! Some even undiscovered by humans! They have a very unique and diverse marine life down there, but mostly they are all blind because of the natural darkness at the abyssal zone! So physical characteristics of the abyssal zone and coral reefs! They are two opposite ends of the spectrum in this scenario! So coral reefs are bright and colorful and very unique in their shape! And the abyssal zone is very very dark and creepy. The difference in diversity between and amount of life supported between the two is that the abyssal zone consists of very strange and unique marine animals, some may even say creepy, and coral reefs support fish you and I are common too! Even some rare fish but they support more life than the abyssal zone! I hope this helps!!
