1. An experiment was carried out to determine whether four heights (H1, H2, H3 and H4)
values along the bole of a Terminalia superba (Ofram) tree affect the density of the tree. The
following results were obtained. The treatments were replicated four times.
Heights (% total height from
ground level)
Replicate 1 Replicate 2 Replicate 3 Replicate 4
H1 (25%) 1.43 1.41 1.50 1.46
H2 (50%) 1.52 1.49 1.37 1.43
H3 (75%) 1.34 1.36 1.32 1.27
H4 (100%) 1.29 1.27 1.32 1.29
i. Does height affect density of the Ofram wood (Terminalia superba)? Give reasons
for your answer.
ii. Use least square difference (LSD) method to select height (s) that significantly
influence the the density of Terminalia superba.
iii. Use the software (e.g. excel, spss, minitab, R etc. ) to plot a line or bar graph and
descriptive statistics of density of the Terminalia superba wood.
