First the cell starts as four daughter cells. They then combine to make one whole diploid cell, or parent cell. The meiosis process can only happen in eukaryotic organisms. Meiosis 2 starts with 2 haploid parent cells and ends with four daughter cells, which then maintains the number of chromosomes in each cell.
