What is an electromagnetic wave?
The oscillation of an electric field and a magnetic field produces electromagnetic waves, which are waves. In other words, electromagnetic waves (EM waves) are made up of vibrating magnetic and electric fields that are orthogonal to one another. Transverse waves are another name for electromagnetic waves because they move in a transverse direction.
These waves are used to transfer light & heat as a form of electromagnetic radiation, these electromagnetic waves are of various kinds such as radio waves, visible light, ultraviolet waves, x-rays, infrared waves, microwaves, gamma rays, etc.
These electromagnetic waves have several applications in our day-to-day life.
Planets, comets, massive clouds of gas and dust, stars, and galaxies can all be seen through radio telescopes as they point toward the heavens. Astronomers can discover information about these sources' composition, structure, and motion by examining the radio waves they emit. The advantage of radio astronomy is that it does not interfere with observations due to sunlight, clouds, or rain.
Since radio waves travel farther than optical waves, they are constructed differently from visible light telescopes. To produce images of the comparable resolution, radio telescopes must be physically larger than optical telescopes. But because the long radio waves are too big to "see," they can be made lighter by drilling countless tiny holes in the dish. A small backyard optical telescope can produce images that are clearer than the 64-meter-wide Parkes radio telescope.
Thus, it is true to say that Physics includes the study of using radio waves to explore stars and identify other planets.
